It seems like you can’t go outside and look up anymore without seeing a drone buzzing the airspace over your head. Walk into any electronics store and you’ll see a wide offering of quad copters ready to take to the sky. Combined with on board cameras and a promise of being easy to fly, drones have become a part of our every day lives.
This proliferation of flying vehicles has led to an onslaught of companies vying for your aerial imaging business.
But just like any other artist’s tool, drones and airborne cameras are just that… tools. Just because someone has a camera doesn’t make them Ansel Adams. Buying a set of paint brushes doesn’t transform one into Picasso. And owning a drone doesn’t mean that a company can deliver the impactful experience that is professionally executed aerial cinematography.
When we started Dirty Birds Aerial Imaging, we didn’t start with the drone. The drone actually came last.
Chris Steward has been a successful video editor for 20 years. He owns and operates an award winning production house and has been making video his customers love for over half his life. When Chris found himself contracting drone footage providers on more than an occasional basis, he had an idea.
Chris thought of his dad, Jim Steward. A retired quality assurance engineer, Jim has been building and flying RC aircraft for over 40 years. That meant Chris had been raised around flight. As long as he could remember, he had been surrounded by unmanned aerial vehicles. And so had his older brother, Tim.
Tim Steward has spent the last 25 years in a career in sales. Not only does Tim bring a high level of customer relation skills, but he’s an avid photographer as well. Tim had already been toying with the idea of taking to the air with his photography. It was an easy decision to join Chris in this new venture.
As the father and two sons began to work together it became clear that their unique combination of skills did more than compliment each other. Those skill sets combined to produce a remarkable high quality product. This wasn’t just three guys out flying a drone. This was a family that had all the needed pieces to produce some of the best aerial footage in the business.
So if you are considering bringing a new perspective to your brand or business, keep the Dirty Birds in mind. With over 40 years of flight, 20 years of film making, and a lifetime of working together, the birds are uniquely positioned to bring you aerial imagery that rises well above any of the competition.
